We provide a range of information about the IPL ( intense pulsed light ) machines. Including what they are, what they do and where to buy the best machines at the lowest cost.
IPL is short for Intense Pulsed Light.
The machine consists of a special flash lamp, this is an extremely bright light source.
The IPL machine is used for a range of skin treatments to reduce or eliminate unwanted hair, red birth marks, pigmented lesions and other blemishes.
IPL machines work best at removing hair when the hair is in a phase of active growth.
It removes hair by sending out high-energy light pulses.
There are actually two beams of light, one red and the other yellow which acting together result in both the existing hair and the follicles where the hair grows.
However not all hair in the area of treatment will be in this phase at any point in time.
It is therefore best to spread IPL treatments out over several weeks.
This is to make sure that hair which isn’t treated in one session is affected in the next.
The way hair grows can be different for each individual, so its best to adjust the treatment to suit each person's needs.
There is a wide range of IPL machines available worldwide.
It is important to get a machine that does IPL and RF treatments. Most of them do both these days but check to make sure.
Then check the size of the machine as they come in two broad categories:
Mobile IPL machines - these can be easily carried by one person so are suitable for mobile salons and beuty therapists so they can treat people in their own homes.
Full size IPL machines - these are larger machines that stand about 60cm high for use in a salon or treatment room. They are too heavy to easily carry but are on wheels (unlike the mobile machines which have no wheels) so can be moved around the room.
An IPL machine can pay for itself easily with just one customer a week. In fact salons can make some very large profits with just a few customers.
You can lease a small basic IPL machine from under £20 per week although most full size machines for salon use are £5,000 to £15,000 which can be leased at £50 to £150 per week. However we found a special deal at £3,999 or just £29 per week.
